For organizations that have not previously qualified, click the qualification requirements link below to determine the appropriate category that best describes the purpose of your organization. Qualification requirement information for that category will appear.  This lists the documentation that must be submitted to the bureau before an organization can be granted a license. PPL Guide Lines for Charities

This is an explanation of the charities responsibilities. It is referencing the daily summary sheet that you will be getting in the mail from the State of Mich.

1. The charity will need to bring some start up cash for change (1's, 5’s, and 10’s) in any amount you want. ($200.00 is adequate)

The charity usually pulls their start cash out before making their deposit at the end of the night and brings it back the next day.

NO CHARITY CASH IS TO BE LEFT IN THE ROOM OVERNIGHT.

You will also need copies of the paperwork for 4 days sent to you in your packet from the state. (Make 3 complete copies)

2. You will need to bring a copy of the application and rental agreement each night to be posted in the hall in case an inspector shows up.

                                        No Licenses, No Gaming.

3. We have a state issued computer program that you may use so the paperwork that you are bringing is for back up purposes. It is good to have in case we have a power outage or computer problem.

4. The charity will take the proceeds and deposit it the next day in their bank account

Where the money comes from?

Tournaments:

Most popular is our tournaments. These are pretty standard with listed tournaments for every night. In tournament play every player pays the same amount to enter, gets the same amount in chips as everyone else and they compete until there is one winner.  The number of payback places is determined by the number of entries into the tournament.

The profit for the hall and charities come from the accumulated prize pool. The charity pays back 80% of the prize pool netting 20 % profit. (1000$ in entries, payouts of 800$= 200$profit).

Cash Games and the Rake:

All cash games that are played have a "rake" taken out on every hand and this is collected at the end of the night.

We have always used the format of 10% of the pot up to six dollars ($6.00), so on a particular hand if there is $30 in the pot the dealer will take 3$ from the pot and put it into the built in lock box on the poker table.

If a table has 7-10 players the rake on a $1-$2 game is usually in the neighborhood of $100/hr.

These are the most profitable games for the charities.

Cash Distribution and Redemption of Chips

Distribution of Chips:

When cash players purchase cash game chips they will come to the counter to purchase them. The charity may sell chips to an active seated player at the gaming table.

Be sure to count out the chips before depositing their money in the drawer and write the amount of sale on the correct sheet.

The player should verify the amount of chips before leaving the counter.

Please, only one player at a time to avoid confusion.

Redemption of Chips:

When a play is done playing they will redeem their chips at the counter. It is important to count the chips the player brings to the counter before making payment.

COUNT THEM AGAIN IN FRONT OF THE PLAYER.

After making payment place the redeemed chips in the redeemed tray and proceeded to the next customer.

NOTE:

ANY OVERPAYMENT OF CASH CHIPS WILL BE ABSORBED BY THE CHARITY.

General notes and information

Please note that the organization is responsible for the handling and recording of all money and bookwork

Before the start of gaming the hall will go over all rules and help you in setting up your work station.

The dealers and floor people cannot handle cash game chips anytime other than when dealing or working a table.

They can't take money from a player to go buy more chips or take chips to cash in for money.

Any workers (dealers, waitress's, etc.) cannot take chips as tips. Only charity personal may handle cash chips

Dealers can handle tournament chips anytime due to the fact they don't have a cash value.

Please feel free to alert Dan Glass at anytime you see something that you question.  (810-869-3692)

The state holds the hall and charities responsible and we want to stay above board with the State of Mi.

Licenses are to be posted to the State web site two weeks in advance of the scheduled event. Any delay in posting may constitute default in the rental agreement.

                                                                                                 Submission of Gaming Application:

The St. Of Mi. application for gaming licenses will need to be submitted as soon as possible. It will take the State up to eight weeks to process the application. It is imperative that this paper work be submitted eight to ten weeks in advance of event.

The completion of the paper work is Critical to Approval of the application. First time event holders will need to take extra caution and time in this preparation. Errors or omission of information will Delay this process. A Delayed or Returned application will further Delay the process.

It is suggested to send the completed paper work to the State of Mi. with a return receipt requested. This is insuring it has been received. A copy of the return receipt should be sent to Glass Gaming in case there is a need to search or inquire to the State the process of the licenses.

All information in the Licenses Application is required to be submitted with your check for the event.

We can not stress enough the importance of the application.

Glass Gaming will hold the Charity responsibly for the completion of this process. In the event the licenses are delayed due to errors and omissions, or delay in sending the application to the State, the charity will be held responsible according the rental agreement.
